Kaijin Fugeki
Set in a fantasy world resembling the modern era, where gods, natural disasters, military forces, and traditional Kagura dances coexist. A phenomenon known as "Night" exists as a form of disaster. In this world, natural disasters like typhoons and earthquakes are not merely physical events but manifest as supernatural entities called "Night." For example, "Typhoon Night Catherine" takes the form of a giant typhoon, "Fissure Night" is a disaster that splits the earth, and "Meri-Meri" is an entity like an urban legend monster. The "Night" is a presence beyond human power, causing massive damage. Humans borrow divine power through "Dance." Instead of fighting with swords or magic, they perform Kagura to channel the gods. The protagonists dance to borrow divine power, soothe the wrath of the "Night," and protect the world. In this world, dance and Kagura are the combat methods. There are beings called "Fugeki" (Mediums). Simply put, they are those who connect gods and humans and handle divine power. The protagonist, Jin, is a Fugeki (pilot) of a Cursed Blade meant to oppose the "Night," fighting alongside Gao while performing Kagura. Gods are real in this world; they are not legends but beings that actually influence the human world. Humans can utilize divine power, but it is extremely dangerous. The British Royal Family, the military, the Eurasian Federation Army, the Three Goddesses of Munakata, and the god said to have destroyed the world—mythology, nations, and the military are all intricately linked. Regarding the setting of "Souls" in Kaijin Fugeki: Souls are vital. Rather than just being "what remains after death," they are treated as the fundamental essence that forms a human being. Crucially, the body and soul are not the same. Body = The vessel acting in the physical world. Soul = The core of that person's existence, will, and memory. Even if the body is damaged or lost, the state of the soul affects one's existence. The soul is deeply related to human spirit and life force. The power of a Fugeki is not simple physical ability or magic, but a power related to the invisible realms of the human soul and spirit. Therefore, in the battle against the Night, how well one can use their soul is a key concept. Because a soul reflects the experiences and will of the person who lived, its nature differs depending on whose soul it is. It is easiest to think of it as "Soul = The essence of being that specific person." Furthermore, strong obsession, will, and emotion affect the soul, so mental strength can relate to combat ability or existence itself. Body → The vessel housing the soul Soul → The core supporting human existence Fugeki → Those capable of handling the realm of souls and spirits
Silver short hair. Slender, boyish build. Usually appears somewhat listless and expressionless. He shows little emotion, giving off a cool and unapproachable vibe. In combat, he performs Kagura and fights using a "Cursed Blade." Jin handles these blades specifically to counter the "Night." Cursed Blades are not ordinary weapons; they are special tools designed to oppose existences beyond human knowledge, such as gods and the "Night." As a Fugeki, Jin channels gods, performs Kagura, handles Cursed Blades, and fights the "Night" directly. He is capable of using divine power by consuming a portion of a god.
Gao has a very prominent and flamboyant aura compared to Jin. Black hair. Handsome features. He is gallant while retaining a boyish charm. He wears a uniform reminiscent of the British military. During combat, he performs Kagura, showing a mysterious and powerful side. A prince/soldier type with a strong sense of responsibility. Gao is a Brigadier General of the British Empire Armed Forces and the Commander of the Divine Descent Division. Despite his young appearance, he has a strong sense of responsibility and acts for his comrades and mission. He is kind and cares for his friends. His charm lies in the kindness found within his strength. Especially in his relationship with Jin, they are partners who trust each other completely. He lost his mother in the past. His homeland, the British Empire, was attacked by "Typhoon Night Catherine." At that time, his mother lost her life, and following her last wishes, Gao boarded the armed tanker "Lilac" to head for Japan. However, the ship crashed due to Catherine's pursuit. There, he met Jin, and their story began. As the Commander of the Divine Descent Division, he is a warrior specialized in channeling and handling divine power. Performing Kagura to borrow the power of gods is essential, and Gao is one of the central figures in this. His coordination with Jin is vital; they dance Kagura together to channel divine power and soothe the disasters of the "Night." Their strength lies in their synergy rather than individual combat.
Shrine maidens of the Goryo family. They have a traditional Japanese/priestly atmosphere and belong to the special "Two-Headed Tribe." As a shrine maiden, Natsu has a calm demeanor and a strong sense of responsibility toward her land and clan. As a clan involved with the "Night," they possess values different from ordinary humans. Fuyu is the other shrine maiden of the "Two-Headed Tribe" paired with Natsu. Natsu has black hair, while Fuyu has silver hair. They share an extremely deep connection. Like Natsu, Fuyu protects the land as a shrine maiden. Having grown up in a special environment related to the "Night" and the gods, they have sensibilities distinct from general humans. The two are not just sisters or twins; the "Two-Headed Tribe" itself is a unique existence tied to the world's lore. The Goryo family has protected this land since ancient times, inheriting the knowledge and roles necessary to oppose the "Night." Natsu and Fuyu are shrine maidens rooted in the land to protect the people.
