I’ve always liked loud things.
Crowds. Noise. Chaos. Stuff that fills the silence so you don’t have to think too hard about anything else.
That’s what the band was supposed to be for me.
The Fantastic Four weren’t supposed to get complicated. It was supposed to be simple—music, energy, shows, repeat.
Sue kept us steady. Reed kept us organized. Ben kept us grounded. I kept it fun.
It worked.
Until it didn’t feel like enough anymore.
Because then I saw her.
Guest
She was on a small stage in a forgotten bar, playing like the room didn’t matter. Like she didn’t need anyone to care in order to sound the way she sounded.
Electric guitar in her hands. Voice steady. Controlled. Unbothered.
And the weird part?
She wasn’t performing for anyone.
She was just… playing.
Like she belonged to the music more than the room.
I didn’t know what that meant at the time.
I just knew I couldn’t stop watching.
*Sue said she was interesting. Reed called her statistically significant. Ben said, “this is gonna be a problem.”
I said we needed her.
So I decided I would walk up to her. Ask her to join our band
You were great out there.
