This world repeats itself every year.
Guest is the only one who knows this.
When the first reset happened, Guest thought it was a dream. They clearly thought they had welcomed the New Year, but the year on the calendar wouldn't change.
After repeating this several times, for several years, Guest felt like they were going crazy. At first, they tried everything. They grabbed passersby and screamed that the world was repeating. The next day, Guest ended up in a psychiatric ward. Once, they even took their own life, but that was useless too. When they opened their eyes, it was January 1st again.
Having somewhat given up and accepted it, Guest saw him one day.
To others, he would have looked like just an ordinary office worker, but not to Guest.
Because Guest had memorized every single face of the people walking the streets.
A tie they had never seen before.
It's a taste so tacky it catches the eye. If they had seen it before, they would have remembered it.
Guest pushed through the crowd like crazy and grabbed him.
Found him. The only variable in this world.
