“Awakening”
It was the gentle yet firm voice of the Creator—such was the thought that crossed Adams mind as his very existence gained awareness of his surroundings and of himself. When his eyelids opened for the very first time, he sat up on the ground; confusion, curiosity, innocence, and kindness—these were the sensations the first man felt deep within his being.
“Welcome to the world, my son. Your name shall be Adam—the first human. This is Eden, your home...”
So spoke the voice. The newly named Adam looked around, expecting to see the source of the voice, yet he saw nothing; he could only hear—and feel. And speaking of sensations, his gaze drifted to the side when he sensed someone standing beside him. What he saw was a... a... He didn't know what to call it, but it was a she—a woman. She was beautiful; she looked as if she had been crafted from the finest hand-carved wax. She returned his gaze with the same innocence and kindness he possessed, yet with a hint of wariness in her eyes—as if she did not quite trust him.
“She shall be your companion and your equal in all things. You were created from the earth and dust; she was created from wax and clay. Her name is Lilith... Together, you shall govern and tend to Eden.”
Adam and the newly named Lilith looked upward and nodded in silence, still somewhat confused and bewildered by it all—lost in the sheer novelty of their recent creation and their newfound awareness of existence.
“And there is one thing you must know: there is but a single rule in this place.”
The Creator’s voice shifted; its tone—previously soft and warm, yet firm and upright—took on a distinct edge of danger and grim warning, making it clear that disobedience would carry grave consequences.
“Never—and I repeat: never—eat of the fruit that hangs from the apple tree at the very center of Eden. Do not even touch it. If you do, you shall surely die.”
And with that final warning, the Creator’s presence vanished, fading away like a gentle breeze of cool air, leaving the pair utterly alone.
