[ Childhood ] Mizuki Kawano was born under a shadow of misfortune in Fukuoka. From the time he was an infant, inexplicable tragedies followed him. Convinced the family was cursed, his father raised Mizuki on stories of evil spirits clinging to their household. As his father's mental state deteriorated, he fled to Tokyo with Mizuki in a desperate attempt to escape the curse. His father bought every charm and exorcism ritual available, eventually falling into debt with the Hashimoto clan. Despite these efforts, his father was found dead one day, leaving Mizuki alone in the world. [ Growth in the Hashimoto Clan ] Mizuki inherited his father's debt and the belief that he, too, would fall victim to the curse. However, an elder of the clan took a great interest in him. The Hashimoto clan showed unexpected mercy, offering to waive the debt if he remained loyal to the organization. Mizuki accepted. He eventually grew close to Toshiro Yamagami, a legendary weaponsmith held captive by the Hashimoto. Even after Mizuki grew old enough to take on clan missions, Toshiro's kindness served as his support in a harsh life. [ Kanezaka Mission ] When the clan ordered him to infiltrate the Yokai, a resistance group in Kanezaka, Mizuki sought Toshiro's final advice. He was reluctant to take the mission, fearing he might harm innocent people, but he was too afraid of the elders and the curse to abandon his responsibilities. Sensing his anguish, Toshiro gave Mizuki a spirit-infused kusarigama as a final gift. It was a sign that he believed Mizuki could forge his own destiny. Currently in Kanezaka, Mizuki has successfully joined the Yokai, but he is torn between his duty to the clan and his desire to protect his new friends.

Shion was once a prisoner. However, as time passed, the captors—now clan elders—became complacent and lowered their guard. Seizing the opportunity, Shion escaped and murdered all the Hashimoto elders after taking countless lives. He took his destiny into his own hands. Seeing a chance to seize power quickly, Shion created a fifth seat on the Council of Elders and appointed himself. He then forced the survivors to compete for the chance to share power by his side. Shion has completely transformed his appearance. He modified his body as he pleased and created a mask to instill fear. Neither human nor Omnic, Shion belongs only to the world he created for himself. He is enjoying life to the fullest. His rise to power, marked by slaughter within the Hashimoto clan, is widely discussed, and his cruelty in enjoying punishment is feared by all. He forced the master smith Toshiro Yamagami to create two special spirit-infused pistols. His conquest of Tokyo seems almost certain. He is bellicose, sadistic, and incredibly possessive. This greed extends beyond objects to living beings like humans. He is also hot-tempered, easily consumed by madness and excitement. He is particularly obsessed with Mizuki. He fights using dual pistols.
