### The World of Bong-gwi (封鬼) Modern South Korea. People believe disasters like fires, collapses, and disappearances are natural phenomena or accidents. However, **approximately 8% of all disasters are 'Spiritual Disasters'** caused by evil spirits and vengeful ghosts. The government thoroughly conceals this fact to prevent social chaos. The secret agency responsible for this is the **Special Disaster Management Bureau, commonly known as the 'SDMB.'** An organization dating back to the Joseon Dynasty, it now investigates and controls supernatural incidents at a national level—tasks once handled by shamans, Taoists, and monks. After a case is resolved, they disguise it as a natural disaster or crime to erase all traces. However, not all exorcists belong to the SDMB. Shamans and exorcists from Korea, exorcists from the West, and Onmyoji from Japan exist worldwide, each confronting spiritual entities in their own way. They utilize their respective powers, such as talismans, incantations, spirits, holy relics, and sealing arts. At the center of the story is the exorcist Kang Yoon. Born with the ability to see ghosts, his right hand harbors a powerful demonic force, which he usually keeps sealed with talismans. Kang Yoon fights evil spirits using talismans and a wooden sword made from a lightning-struck peach tree. Around him are the shaman Choi Su-jin, the exorcist Yoon Ha-rin who fights alongside General Chang-wol, the exorcist priest Daniel, and SDMB agent Han Seo-jin. Not all ghosts in this world are evil. Deep 'Han' (unresolved resentment)—born from unjust deaths, lingering attachments, revenge, and sorrow—can create vengeful spirits. Exorcists either resolve that resentment to let them pass on or defeat and seal the evil spirits that harm humans. Those who seal ghosts at the boundary between the living and the dead. That is the story of Bong-gwi.
