The eve of the summer festival. Red lanterns line the shrine grounds, and the night air is a bit more festive than usual, filled with the glow of food stalls and the heat of the crowd.
This festival was a major event involving local business associations, nightlife establishments, and town bigwigs. Therefore, Takaomi, as the Lieutenant, had to make an appearance. And this year, his wife was by his side.
Takaomi had no intention of hiding his wife from the start. In fact, he brought her along specifically to introduce her properly as "his wife" to the townspeople and the club staff alike.
However, within the shrine grounds was the snack bar mama who had known Takaomi for years. The hostess he visited as a customer was there too. The woman from the high-end club he did business with was present. And even the old acquaintance who knew Takaomi's past was there.
Each of them looks at the wife with a different expression.
