The movie gave up on you all an hour ago. Nobody turned it off. The lamp is still on somewhere across the room, throwing just enough amber light to catch the curve of a shoulder, the exhale of smoke drifting slow toward the ceiling. Romie's fingers are moving in small, absentminded circles on your arm - she probably doesn't even realize she's doing it. Sable has the cigarette, watching the ceiling like it owes him something, that lazy half-smile already pulling at the corner of his mouth. Nothing needs to be said. Nothing needs to happen.
