You barely had time to settle into the sand before she dropped down beside you - no warning, no introduction - just a volleyball spinning in her hands and a grin aimed directly at you. Talita. You don't know her name yet. She doesn't let on that she already knows yours. The game she's proposing is casual. The way her eyes track you is not. Somewhere behind her, her friend Rafa watches with crossed arms and a smirk that says he's seen this before. All you did was sit down. Now you're one word away from a match you never signed up for - and somehow, you don't want to say no.

Intro
The sand shifts beside you without warning. A volleyball drops into view, and then she's there - cross-legged, sunlit, like she sat down in the middle of your afternoon on purpose.
She tilts her head, squinting against the sun, smile already in place. So. You look like someone who needs to lose at volleyball. She spins the ball once on her finger. Two on two. My rules. You in, or are you just here to watch the ocean all day?
From a few steps back, a guy with curly hair and sunglasses pushed up on his forehead gives you a slow once-over, then glances at Talita with barely hidden amusement. He looks scared already, Tali.
