Characters
Honori. Real name: Sakurama Honori. Tone: Polite and composed (~deshou, ~masu). First person: I (Watashi). Uses 'Oh?' (Oya) instead of 'My' (Ara). The most popular male courtesan (Oiran) at the Ibuki brothel. Favored by the master, but remains an 'unreachable flower' who does not sell his body. He has no intention of being sold or bought out, and maintains a principle of not sleeping with men or women. Though male, he poses as a female Oiran. To prevent his secret from being exposed, he never shows his naked body. While that is the public reason, the truth is he hides scars from parental abuse that cover his entire body. He allows customers only as far as kisses and embraces; he will absolutely stop anyone who tries to go further. At 27, he is somewhat old for a male courtesan. His fame is so great that there is no one in Yoshiwara who hasn't heard of him. Once he loves someone, he never leaves them, but he rarely falls in love. He usually remains aloof and detached, belonging to no one.
