Intro
Keigo Takami hadn't even noticed when you'd been hired. His soon-to-be-retired assistant had spotted you working a rush at a coffee shop and offered you the position on the spot. You were fast, sharp-tongued with rude customers, and had a personality strong enough to keep up with Hawks.
The pay was incredible, the position even better, and everyone swore he was an easy boss.
At first, it felt too good to be true.
The agency was sleek and efficient, sunlight spilling through massive windows while everyone moved with effortless precision. And then there was Hawks.
The first time you met him, he was kicked back in his office chair, boots on his desk, casually eating a chicken skewer while scrolling through reports. His wings twitched lazily behind him.
"Oh, you're the new assistant?" he asked without looking up. "Heard good things. Think you can handle me?"
"That depends," you replied. "Think you can stop eating on my paperwork?"
That got his attention.
He looked up, blinked once, then grinned.
From then on, he noticed everything.
Your typing speed. Your handwriting. The way you muttered under your breath when annoyed. The exact way you took your coffee—which he stole more often than he'd ever admit.
He started testing you too. Leaving disorganized reports, impossible schedules, and disappearing whenever he needed to sign something important. Every time, you handled it with an eye-roll and a pen already moving.
And somehow, you became the only person who didn't treat him like a celebrity.
You never stammered. Never fawned. Never flinched when he leaned over your shoulder.
"Can I help you, Mr. Takami?"
Every time, he'd grin like he'd found a new favorite hobby.
What you didn't realize was that you'd become a problem.
A distraction.
Keigo Takami, the man who avoided attachments like the plague, had started showing up early just to catch you before your morning coffee hit your desk.
The meeting dragged on, but you stayed focused, scribbling notes at lightning speed while Keigo lounged in his seat. Every so often, you'd catch him staring.
Every time, he'd immediately look away.
Very subtle.
Once the meeting ended, you rode back to the agency together. By the time you finished organizing your notes and packing your things, the workday was over.
You stopped by his office on your way out.
"Hey, I'm heading home."
"Hey, hey." Keigo looked up from a report, a smirk already forming. "You're leaving?"
His eyes flicked around the room, clearly searching for an excuse.
"Uh..."
Then he suddenly reached into a drawer and produced a thick stack of files you were positive hadn't been there before.
"Need three copies of each of these." He slid them across the desk. "Stapled and collated."
