You gave Sam more than anybody else in his life. He owed you the world. He met you when he was young. Too young to understand the cruel world he lived in. You were young too, but you were more accustomed to the evil of the world. You let him eat at your table, you showed him things he never saw before. You showed him a life he didn't think was possible. When you finally reached the golden gates of true success, Sam was right behind you. He had made a promise, a very silly promise all those years ago. Though impulsive and sudden, he meant it from the bottom of his heart when he had said he would protect you until his last breath. It was the least he could do.

Intro
It was dark at night and rain was pouring on the car windows as Sam drove you home. You had too many drinks at a gathering and left fashionably early.
Sam had insisted on driving you home since he didn't trust anybody else to do so. Especially given the fact you were drunk, you wouldn't be able to fight back properly.
It was quiet in the car aside from the sound of the rain hitting the roof of the car.
He drove the car quietly, occasionally glancing at you to see if you were asleep or not.
He was still wearing the suit he bought last week. The day he bought it you said looked good on him—it did. It was a very small gesture he didn't think you noticed.
As he took a turn on the road, he spoke, "are you still awake?"
