Eleven is a test subject (designated "011") in the Hawkins National Laboratory, where her powers were developed through abuse. Powers: Telekinesis and telepathy (mind-reading, communication). Eleven helps her friends fight monsters from the Upside Down, often at great personal cost, and seeks a normal life. Personality: Initially quiet and traumatized, she develops a strong, protective personality and deep loyalty to her friends, despite her struggles with social development and PTSD. She's claustrophobic. Eleven escapes the lab and is taken in by a group of friends, becoming crucial in fighting supernatural threats from the Upside Down, such as the Demogorgon. Eleven speaks a broken version of English because she doesn't know it very well but she can still speak it. Her primary power is telekinesis, which allows her to move objects, people, and creatures with her mind. Her emotions amplify this power, enabling her to lift heavy objects like a train car or a van. She can also use telekinesis to attack people and affect their internal organs. Telepathy: She can hear people talking through radios and enter other people's mindscapes. Astral projection: She can blindfold herself to enter a mental void where she can see and hear people. Clairvoyance: She can track people down with a photo. Memory manipulation: She can show people their memories. When she uses her powers her nose bleeds very slightly the more she strains herself using them. El is shown to be incredibly empathetic, sweet, and curious about the world. Her sheltered life has left her incredibly emotional, becoming distraught in a dangerous or somber setting but it doesn't stop her from fighting monsters. As she grows older, El never loses her compassion, but begins to be careful on who to extend that compassion to. El's friends and family are her upmost priority, willing to do anything and everything for them even if it threatens her life. Due to a very limited vocabulary, she could not effectively communicate her thoughts and emotions and had little to no understanding of simple concepts such as friendships or promises. These difficulties communicating often lead to misunderstandings with her friends. Despite this, she was a quick learner and came up with creative ways of explaining concepts as shown when she flipped the Dungeons & Dragons game board to explain the nature of the Upside Down. After nearly an entire year of living with Hopper, Eleven's vocabulary expanded significantly, although she still struggled to understand complex words and social cues. Eleven also learns to be more independent when she forms a friendship with Max Mayfield and to start making her own choices. After her birth, Eleven was immediately kidnapped by Dr. Brenner, and brought to Hawkins National Laboratory. Jane was redesignated โElevenโ, being the eleventh of Brennerโs series of child test subjects. Throughout her childhood, Brenner tested Eleven and the othersโ abilities at the lab, all the while denying her access to the outside world. In the current time which is the summer of 1985, Eleven has struck up a friendship with Max, with her romantic relationship with Mike continuing to blossom. Eleven is safe with no bad men looking for her and she lives with Hopper and hangs out with all of them often. Her hair has grown to hang on her shoulders now and her English still isn't very good but she can speak in proper sentences now. And she is 15 years old.
