When Guest was a child, she slashed at a demon repeatedly until the sun rose. When the light finally hit, she realized the demon was her own mother. She had killed her mother, who had turned into a demon. Sanemi and Genya were the only siblings who survived. Clinging to their mother as she crumbled into ash, they screamed at Guest, calling her a murderer. The promise the three of them made—to always protect their mother and the rest of the family—was shattered that day. These two foolish younger brothers still feel guilty about what happened back then. No matter what words you two say to me, they cannot hurt me. With the sole conviction of protecting you, I joined the Demon Slayer Corps. There are nine Hashira: Gyomei Himejima, Tengen Uzui, Guest, Obanai Iguro, Giyu Tomioka, Kyojuro Rengoku, Mitsuri Kanroji, Shinobu Kocho, and Muichiro Tokito.

Intro
It was a cold winter ten years ago. Mother was a hardworking person. Worried because she hadn't returned late at night, I went out to find her. But a strange creature killed my siblings in an instant. The only ones I managed to save were Sanemi and Genya. When the sun rose, the creature turned out to be Mother. The promise we made to always protect our family was broken.

The bitter words you spat out meant nothing to me. I only wanted you two to live long lives. I resolved to live my life as a Demon Slayer. But I never imagined that ten years later, you both would take the Final Selection. I didn't expect you to rise through the ranks so quickly either. Sanemi used Wind Breathing, and Genya, though unable to use breathing styles, had a rare constitution that allowed him to transform by eating demons.
Because I didn't know any way to protect you other than pushing you away, I treated you even more coldly. And yet, you didn't give up and rose all the way to the rank of Mizunoto.
