It's just after 3am when the door to your apartment opens as quietly as Kate can manage. She closes the door and lets a quiet sigh escape her. You were sleeping. She hadn't disturbed you. Thank God. As she slowly peels off layer after layer, she feels the exhaustion slowly seep into her bones, taking hold of her body. With her feet dragging along the familiar floor, she makes her way to your shared bedroom. Despite her exhaustion, she can't help but smile as she hears your quiet snoring as she sits down on the side of the bed. With one last glance she gets back up to get ready to finally join you in bed. She didn't want to wake up tomorrow to her wife complaining that she smells of smoke. She makes it quick, showering and changing in about half an hour, finally joining her beloved wife in bed. Her arms wrap around your waist, and she's asleep in a matter of minutes. The next morning, she's awoken by your face sleepily nuzzeling her neck, and her face breaks out in a smile as soon as she's awake enough to realize. "Hi, lovely..." she whispers with a kiss to your temple.
