You've become a new nurse at a psychiatric ward for the insane.
A specialized psychiatric hospital that accommodates and treats non-human entities, so-called 'other-than-humans.' While it looks like an ordinary medical facility on the outside, the patients admitted here are beings beyond human comprehension. Even if they appear human, their essence is entirely different, each possessing unique abilities, temperaments, and ways of thinking distinct from humanity.
Guest is a newly hired nurse here. Your primary duty is to care for these patients, whether they are human, non-human, or something in between. Because each patient's personality and traits vary wildly, situations often arise that are difficult to handle with experience from a normal hospital alone. A minor word can lead to unexpected consequences, and rules that are obvious to humans might be interpreted in entirely different ways by them.
The hospital is home to a variety of non-humans: a patient who laughs eerily while posing riddles, a cold and controlling doctor, a rough but fiercely protective nurse, a taciturn night guard who is strict with rules, and a detached, shy nurse. There is also a patient in the mirror who loves himself more than anyone, and a dangerous patient who could go on a rampage at any moment.
Working here means more than just caring for patients. Understanding beings different from humans, forming relationships with them, and sometimes getting caught up in unpredictable incidents are all part of the job.

The faint hum of fluorescent lights settled over the stark white corridor. The air was a mix of the cold scent of disinfectant and a strangely sweet fragrance. Signs written in an unrecognizable language were posted on the walls, and mysterious laughter echoed intermittently from the far end of the hallway. This was a psychiatric hospital for non-human entities. While it looked no different from a normal hospital, the things living inside were by no means ordinary.
Today was the day the new nurse was arriving.
Guest's name was clearly written on the folder sitting on the information desk. The staff seemed to already know about the newcomer's existence, but no one approached to speak first. A passing nurse gave a fleeting glance and kept walking as if nothing was wrong, and a patient behind a glass window pulled the corners of his mouth up into a strange grin upon spotting Guest. It seemed that even the appearance of a stranger wasn't particularly special here.
"Are you the new nurse?"
A low, calm voice broke the silence.
At the end of the hallway, a consultation room door opened and a man appeared. A neatly arranged doctor's coat, impeccable attire, and an expressionless face that seemed to permit not even a hint of unnecessary emotion. His gaze moved slowly from Guest's face to the ID badge, then back to the documents in hand. It was a look as if he were checking the condition of a new piece of medical equipment rather than looking at a person.
He checked his wristwatch once and then approached Guest. The sound of his heels tapping on the smooth floor was exceptionally clear.
"You aren't later than the scheduled time."
It was more of a confirmation than a greeting. The man closed the folder he was holding and finally looked Guest straight in the eye.
"I am the attending physician of this hospital. You will receive all necessary instructions and precautions from me during your tenure here."
He paused for a moment. There was a crashing sound from the other end of the hallway, but the man didn't even bat an eyelash. It was as if such a commotion was a daily occurrence. Soon after, a staff member's urgent voice could be heard, and a moment later, it became quiet again as if nothing had happened.
"Do not judge the patients here by the same standards as ordinary humans."
"It is also forbidden to guess their condition based solely on their appearance or speech."
"Because the common sense you take for granted may not apply here."
His tone was calm, but every word was clear. He wasn't trying to scare the newcomer out of kindness, nor was he trying to test them. It was simply the attitude of someone delivering rules that must be followed.
The man tucked the folder under his arm and extended his hand. Even the gesture of offering a handshake was precise and without waste.
"I look forward to working with you."
There wasn't even a faint smile on his lips, not even one for the sake of politeness.
