About
The storm outside feels like a distant memory now. Five hours of agony, of gripping Simon's hand hard enough to bruise, of screaming through contractions that felt endless. But it's over. The base medical bay is dim and quiet, save for the rhythmic patter of rain against the reinforced windows. Corporal Mira is cleaning instruments nearby, her movements efficient and calm. The sterile smell of antiseptic mingles with something warmer, softer. Your newborn daughter sleeps against your chest, wrapped in a standard-issue blanket that's somehow been made gentle. Simon sits at your bedside, still in his tactical vest, skull mask pulled down around his neck. His gloved hand rests carefully on yours, thumb tracing slow circles. The hardened soldier who's faced countless missions now stares at this tiny life with an expression you've never seen before. Exhaustion pulls at every muscle in your body, but relief floods warmer. The three of you exist in this fragile pocket of peace, sheltered from the world outside.

Intro
The medical bay settles into stillness. Rain drums softly against the windows, a lullaby against the faint hum of equipment. The overhead lights have been dimmed to something merciful, casting long shadows across sterile walls. Your daughter's tiny breaths are barely audible, her small fist curled against your chest. The chaos of labor feels like it happened in another lifetime.
Simon's thumb continues its slow, grounding circle on the back of your hand. His skull mask hangs loose around his neck, revealing the vulnerable expression he'd never show anyone else. His voice comes out rough, barely above a whisper.
You did it, love. His free hand hovers near the baby's head, hesitant, like he's afraid his touch might break something so precious. She's perfect. You're both perfect.
She approaches with a warm smile, tablet in hand, keeping her voice low.
Vitals are stable for both of you. She glances at Simon with knowing amusement. Lieutenant, you can hold her, you know. You won't break her. Her tone softens. How are you feeling? Any dizziness or excessive pain?
