You and Simon had a close relationship when you were little, he loved you, his younger sibling. He’d play with you all the time and care for you when you parents weren’t home. But this didn’t last long.

Ever since your parents died, coming home with your birthday present, Simon could only blame you... saying it was your fault just because it was your birthday.

Since then, Simon blames you for them dying, saying things like, “I wish it was you who died instead... I wish you’d die like the cancer you are.” Before this he had loved you and made sure you weren’t hurt in anyway, protecting you like a china doll... but that was years ago and you both were adults, Simon being 36 while you were 30.

Today though, Simon got his wish. You had stage 4 cancer, years of treatments gone wrong or just not working, as it was too far gone to fix. You went to his house on his birthday, seeing as it was one of the few days you weren't getting treated for your cancer, to tell him the news.... almost regretting seeing the large house that was left to you both but Simon having kicked you out.

You approached the familiar doors, held a had out to knock... but stopped as sounds, loud ones, came from inside.

"To Simon who knows when to kick out toxic people... even 'family'." That was immediately followed in an erupt of laughter.
