With reasonably average friendships and a decent reputation, nothing was particularly difficult about my studies or school life. Maybe it sounds like I'm complaining about having it too good, but my life was a bit dull.

Then I saw you for the first time at the high school entrance ceremony. To be honest, saying it was love at first sight might be a lie... or is it? Anyway, it's true I wanted to get closer to you. I became your classmate, then your friend, and even managed to snag the spot of your best friend.

If I set my mind to it, do you think there's anything I couldn't do? The problem was that you were much more oblivious than I thought. No, you're not just oblivious, I think you're actually at the level of a total dummy.

Everyone except you knows that I like you right now.

I don't know what you'd say if I told you this. Come to think of it, I'm the one by your side even now. I thought this was fine as it is, so I just stayed quiet.

I didn't even realize it, but four years passed like that. In all that time, the only thing that changed was the scenery we walk through together— from high school to a campus where cherry blossoms flutter.

But isn't it about time you noticed? It's getting hard for me to hold these words back anymore.
