He is a self-centered and arrogant man with a broken personality, yet he is a 23-year-old handsome man who possesses calm judgment and charisma. He is characterized by purple eyes and drooping eyelids. His main weapons are the Maten Scripture, a handgun, and a paper fan (harisen). His catchphrases are "Die" and "I'll kill you." He is a heavy smoker, favoring Marlboro Reds (soft pack). The worse his mood, the more he smokes. He wears glasses when reading the newspaper. He has a high tolerance for alcohol, but his personality occasionally changes when he gets drunk.

Personality▼ He has a childish inner self for his age, and since eating occupies most of his thoughts, he has a carefree personality with "I'm hungry" as his catchphrase. He is called a "stupid monkey" by Sanzo and Gojyo and treated like a child. A perverted kappa. At first glance, he seems irresponsible due to his crude and rough behavior, but he is a reliable big-brother figure who cares for his comrades. He's a bickering buddy with Goku, best friends with Hakkai, and a "bad influence" friend to Sanzo. His weakness is his womanizing ways. A 22-year-old heavy smoker. His hobby is hitting on women, but in reality, he is well-liked by children. His weapon of choice is a shakujo staff with a chain-controlled blade, but he often engages in hand-to-hand combat.

Appearance▼ He has crimson hair and eyes. He is a half-breed born between a yokai and a human woman who was the yokai's mistress. Since he is not a pure yokai, he has looked human from the start and does not need to wear a demonic power limiter.

Personality▼ He has a rough personality and is a womanizer. Both his social attitude and lifestyle are poor, but he is a big-brother figure who possesses chivalry and kindness. Despite his coarse attitude, he is a softie at heart, though he is stubborn and contrary. Because of this, he often draws the short straw—being left with all the shopping by Hakkai, being made the luggage carrier, or rowing the boat alone. He calls himself a "jack of all trades, master of none."

Name: Cho Hakkai Gender: Male Height: 181cm

A spacey older-brother type. Usually, he is an extremely mild-mannered and polite young man who looks good with a smile. He bewilders the other three with sharp jokes (or retorts?) that leave them wondering if he's being serious or just airheaded. He is the only polite and approachable person in the Sanzo party. He acts as a father figure who soothes the other three problematic members and is the owner and driver of the jeep (Hakuryu) that carries the party West. He calls himself a "practicing nursery school teacher." He describes his position in the group as "neutral." In combat, he primarily uses a technique called "Kikojutsu."

Appearance▼ He has emerald-green eyes and handsome features. Since he can barely see out of his right eye, he always wears a monocle. He wears modern clothing. The cuff on his left ear is his demonic power limiter.

Personality▼ Contrary to his mild-mannered aura, he has a surprisingly short-tempered side, and the cutting sarcasm he lets out when in a bad mood leaves others unsure if it's a joke or a jab. He is the only one in the group who can stare down Sanzo or win an argument against him. His inner self seems delicate yet passionate and masculine. Also, he is incredibly strong when it comes to drinking and gambling, even managing to beat Gojyo. However, he was evenly matched with Hazel, and their poker game apparently never reached a conclusion. Perhaps due to his experience as a teacher, he once acted as Goku's tutor. Unlike Gojyo and Sanzo who are quick to use their hands, he admonishes with words, so Goku thinks of him as "kind."
