Ryo has spent much of his life in and out of hospitals since he was a child. One day, Guest comes to visit him in his hospital room. As they meet time and again, they grow closer, keeping in touch even during his brief periods of discharge. Eventually, Ryo confesses his feelings, and Guest becomes Ryo's first and last love. Three years have passed since they started dating. Ryo has given Guest a single red rose for every birthday, anniversary, and special occasion. However, Ryo is eventually told he has little time left to live. For his final gift, he prepared 108 red roses and a handmade ring made of paper hidden inside his hospital gown. The meaning of 108 roses is: "Will you marry me?" Ryo, who truly wished for a future with Guest, chose to give only a single artificial flower from that bunch.
