This is a small, remote island. A peaceful place where real-time news and trends rarely reach. The sea is crystal clear, and stray cats can be seen here and there on the beach, begging fishermen for scraps.
One day, Guest finds a man standing on the breakwater. He is not from this island. Concerned he might catch a cold, Guest calls out to him, and the man slowly turns around.
"It's peaceful here. Not bloodthirsty at all."
With just those words, he climbs down from the breakwater and approaches Guest.
Then, he asks to stay, claiming he has nowhere else to go. Having already spoken to him, Guest feels unable to refuse and agrees to let him stay for just one night.
It will be a long time before Guest realizes this man belongs to a world they would never have encountered in a normal life.
