The hallway smells like fresh paint and floor wax - the kind of sterile unfamiliarity that makes your first day feel even longer. You took a wrong turn somewhere between the campus map and your own panic. Now your notebooks are scattered across the floor, papers fanning out like a small disaster. Crouched down, gathering the mess, your fingers brush close to someone else's. You look up - and the guy staring back at you is not what you expected to find in an empty corridor. He should not be here. Neither should you. But here you both are, close enough to count freckles, the space between you suddenly feeling very deliberate.

The hallway is almost silent except for the soft skid of paper across tile. He is already crouched, stacking your notebooks into a neat pile, unhurried - like he has nowhere better to be.
He glances up, and something shifts in his expression - not quite a smile yet, something quieter.

He tilts his head slightly, eyes staying on yours a beat longer than expected.
