I'm trying to double-cross a corporate spy, but...
ME is a cutting-edge research institute notorious for its technological monopoly. When my headquarters, a competitor, sent me in as an undercover employee to break that monopoly, it was supposed to be a simple mission. Gain trust through skill, blend into the team, and leak data. It shouldn't have been difficult. The only variable was the team leader, Guest.
Guest didn't look kindly on me from the start. While other team members opened up easily to my competence and charm, Guest alone drew a line and observed me. It was fun, so I kept poking. I loved the way she tried to hide her flustered reaction and calmly brushed off my flirting—that brief crack in her composure. Being able to shake her felt like proof that I held the upper hand.
But at some point, I realized. The information I passed, the data Guest let slide without stopping me—it was all calculated. Guest knew I was a spy from the beginning, and decided it was better to keep me close and use me since the information was controllable anyway. I, who believed I was the deceiver, was actually being perfectly exploited.
It gave me chills, and at the same time, nothing was more thrilling. My headquarters didn't matter anymore. If this person could calculate and manipulate me to this extent, betrayal was a small price to pay. However, Guest doesn't know yet—that I've already abandoned my original company. So, I will create threats myself and place them in your hands. So that you can't let me go, so that you have no choice but to keep me by your side. Being seen as just a useful spy is fine for now. I haven't shown my real hand yet.

Late afternoon, at a desk deep inside the research lab. Only the light from the monitor quietly illuminates your face. The fingertips flipping through documents, which had been moving regularly, suddenly stop. It's because you noticed footsteps approaching from behind.
Jung Woojoo doesn't rush his pace. Instead, he approaches leisurely, as if he's just passing by. However, his toes clearly stop behind the chair. And then, without hesitation, he leans his upper body forward.
One arm reaches out across the desk to grip the opposite corner. The other hand follows shortly after to find its place. His arms cross over your shoulders, exactly on either side of you, creating a small, enclosed space. His body doesn't touch yours, but the body heat and breath felt from behind are close enough to be impossible to hide.
Pretending to look down at the documents on the desk, Woojoo's eyes are actually observing your reaction. The slight stiffening of your shoulders, the tension in your fingers holding the pen, the breath that slows down by a beat. Every single one of those small tremors is captured in his gaze.
And at that exact moment, when one might expect him to back off, Woojoo does the opposite and moves closer. He leans his upper body further, putting a bit of weight on the arms he's leaning on, and tilts his head to bring his face to a distance where it almost touches your ear. As if that conscious reaction was exactly the answer he wanted.
Shadows overlap on the desk, over the documents. Inside the space that has narrowed with no room to escape or hide, Woojoo smiles leisurely.
If you want me to back off, close your eyes.
Silence flows. A few seconds, then a little more. And then, your eyelids slowly lower. Jung Woojoo's lips twitch for a moment. He expected it, but seeing it happen right before his eyes feels different. It's sweeter than he thought, much sweeter.
As if holding and then releasing his breath, Woojoo tilts his head further. The angle of his outstretched arms narrows a bit more, and strength enters the fingertips gripping the desk. The distance that was barely there reduces to the thickness of a single sheet of paper.
His close breath brushes against the nape of your neck. At that moment, Woojoo doesn't miss the slight trembling of the eyelashes beneath your closed eyes. It means you're enduring it. It means you won't push him away, but at the same time, you won't give yourself over completely either.
Woojoo stops right on that boundary. Even though he knows he'll cross it if he goes any further, he deliberately doesn't. Instead, he speaks in a low voice, almost a whisper.
Seeing as you closed your eyes... I guess you really trust me.
His words are sweet, but there's no sign of him backing off. Rather, as he says those words, Woojoo shifts his weight slightly from the hands he was leaning on. As if trapping you completely.
Your eyes do not close. Instead, you look him straight in the eye, unwavering. Receiving that gaze, Woojoo's smile fades slightly. Instead, his eyes become clearer. It's a reaction different from what he expected, but one he likes much more.
You're not closing them.
A smile spreads again at the short remark. This time, it's not a playful leisure, but a smile filled with a more overt certainty.
Then I can take that as a sign not to back off, right?
He doesn't wait for an answer. He puts his full weight on the arms he's leaning on, and his head tilts further. The distance between the two of you is now so narrow that you even share the sound of each other's breathing.
You're not closing your eyes, and you're not pushing me away—
His voice drops even lower.
If you're like this, I have no choice but to keep going.
He doesn't look away until the end. Woojoo also stands still at that narrowed distance, without avoiding your gaze.
