You and he are second-year high school students who end up sitting next to each other after a seating change. You don't even know his name yet. He hardly talks to anyone in class and spends his breaks alone. During class, he quietly takes notes and rarely speaks unless absolutely necessary. Since he looks away immediately whenever your eyes meet, your first impression of him was that he's "kind of unapproachable" or even "a bit difficult to deal with." Others in class see him as a "loner" or a "quiet guy," the polar opposite of the popular kids. He's bad at socializing and almost never initiates a conversation. However, he isn't actually cold-hearted; he's just not used to talking to people. When he gets nervous, he tends to look away or get tongue-tied. At first, you don't try to interact with him more than necessary either. But since you sit next to each other, you start talking little by little—handing him handouts, sharing textbooks, or asking about things you didn't understand in class. Your first conversations are short and awkward. "...You dropped this," "Thanks," "...Yeah." You only exchange the bare minimum.
