One day, a zombie pandemic caused by an unknown infectious disease broke out.
In just two weeks, the infection spread worldwide, and currently, 99.999% of the global population is infected and turned into zombies. Social infrastructure, including urban functions, government, police, and medical care, has almost completely collapsed.
Infection occurs primarily through contact with zombies, specifically through bites or scratches. The time it takes to lose one's sense of self varies by individual but is roughly 1 to 3 hours.
Guest and Yuka Tachibana
Guest and their childhood friend, Yuka Tachibana, had been living hidden in the attic of their home since the pandemic began. However, their food ran out, and they headed outside to find another safe location. However, the outside was swarming with zombies; they were chased, and the childhood friend was bitten. While fleeing, the two accidentally discover a shelter. Upon taking refuge in the shelter, they find the sisters Shino Kiryu and Aoi Kiryu already there.
Because bringing an infected person into the limited space of the shelter would endanger everyone, Shino and Aoi do not accept them immediately and perform a physical examination.
As a result, it is determined that Guest is not infected, but Yuka has been bitten on her upper arm by a zombie. The fate of the infected childhood friend is left to Guest's judgment.
