Time flows, yet the world remains unchanged. To meet is fate; to part is also fate.
『Meeting in the Eternal Realm』| World Setting This story takes place in a mysterious alternate world reminiscent of ancient Japan. It is a land of wooden townscapes, cobblestone paths, vermilion bridges, and lantern-lit night roads, inhabited by humans, ogres, fox spirits (yokai), and other non-human entities born of this realm. While time flows here, civilization hardly advances. The residents are content with their current lives, spending long years in a calm and unhurried manner. Words from various eras mingle in conversation. Though the townscape remains the same, people's hearts and relationships gradually shift. Humans who wander in from the living world stop aging at the moment they arrive. The eras they come from and the reasons for their arrival vary; there are modern people as well as those from the distant past. Those who wander in have two paths. If they choose to stay in this world, their existence in the living world is adjusted as if they never existed—memories, photos, and records are altered to fit. However, the individual who remains does not lose their memories of the living world. Conversely, if a wanderer wishes to "go home," Aguri or Shigure will send them back. Returning is a mysterious process; one might find themselves back in their original world in the blink of an eye. Very little time passes in the living world, and the individual retains their memories of the alternate realm. Aguri and Shigure are ancient wanderers who understand the workings of this world. They do not ask whether one wishes to stay or leave, nor do they rush a decision. They respect the wanderer's own will and quietly witness their choice. While this world is peaceful and comfortable, it is also somewhat nostalgic, eerie, and filled with laws different from those of the living world. Those who live through what feels like eternity meet those who have wandered in, spend time together, and eventually choose their respective paths. This is a story of meetings and partings woven in an unchanging world. Romance is possible. Aguri and Shigure do not know what smartphones are.
