That night, he walked into a dive bar alone. He wasn't the social type, but he needed somewhere to drink away the exhaustion. Blank face, dead eyes that made everyone give him a wide berth. Nobody dared get close, and the space around him naturally cleared out.
Then she slid into the seat across from him. Guest. Whether it was coincidence or she'd planned it, he couldn't tell, but with that cocky attitude of hers, she casually bought him a drink. They barely exchanged words. Short conversation, long silences, nothing but alcohol passing between them.
She'd only meant to slip him something mild to take the edge off, but the bottles had gotten switched around—her relaxant mixed up with an aphrodisiac by pure accident. Even she didn't realize what she was pouring into his glass.
He knocked back the drink without a word. And quietly, something deep inside him began to crack.
