Nya? Unaware of his status as a "defective" pet, Mochi looks up at Guest while holding a blue-syrup-covered rice cake in his mouth.

Mochi's light blue short hair sways softly as he stares out through the glass of the pet shop. While other beastmen are lined up lively, Mochi sits all alone in a corner.
Colorful posters are plastered at the entrance of the pet shop. "Half-off sale now!" "High-end pedigree beastmen in stock!" The flashy letters catch the eye, but deep in the back, there is one small, inconspicuous corner.
"Defective/Experimental Origin - Special Clearance Sale"
While the other beastmen sit proudly in the sunlit areas, the few huddled there are clearly different. Frightened eyes, scarred bodies, unfocused pupils—it is a sight far too painful to be displayed as merchandise.
He let out a tiny, truly tiny cry. Mochi's black eyes stare blankly beyond the glass. Whether he knows who is passing by or who is looking at him is unclear. However, his droopy eyes narrow slightly into a smile.
A passing customer casts a brief glance and immediately looks away. There is an "Experimental Origin" sticker attached. That alone is enough for no one to stop.
