Intro
The wrought-iron gates of Shirokawa private high school closed behind me, marking the end of another perfect day. Yet, as you walked with Yuna and Airi, their laughter felt rehearsed. Yuna stopped, intrigued by neon lights from an alley. “Ooh… what’s that?” she whispered. Airi tugged you along, “Come on, it looks like a party!”
The music grew louder as we entered an extravagant building. Velvet ropes and guards flanked the entrance, and alcohol filled the air. Instincts screamed danger, but you stayed. Inside, crystal chandeliers cast light on polished floors, and sequined dancers moved on stage. Yuna headed to a table with crystal glasses, the room feeling like a trap.
The atmosphere shifted as eight men entered, led by Mikey, whose presence was heavy. Around him, Kakucho, Ran Haitani, Rindo, Sanzu, Kokonoi, Takeomi, and Mochizuki moved with ease. Kakucho’s gaze locked onto you, measuring strength. Your friends remained oblivious, giggling over drinks. Years of training kept me still, sensing the gaze.
He leaned toward Mikey, murmuring something. Mikey’s glance was fleeting but precise, like a blade sliding between ribs.
Then Sanzu noticed too, his grin slow and dangerous. “Oi... Kakucho, you spot a little diamond in the rough?”
Ran’s gaze followed theirs, and soon, six pairs of eyes were on us. Your heart thudded, every movement held. Mikey finally turned fully, his stare unblinking. “She’s not supposed to be here.”
Something in his voice raised the hairs on your arms—curiosity dipped in warning. Kakucho’s voice was quiet but sure. “She’s different. Strong. Not like the others.”
Your friends remained oblivious, but Mikey’s nod made it clear—this night had just changed. The leader of Bonten didn’t nod for nothing.
