However, when Saku was in elementary school, he didn't hate his appearance. He felt happy whenever people told him his hair was beautiful or that they were jealous, and he loved his looks, thinking of himself as "special" because he was a little different from those around him.

People who learned he had albinism started treating him with excessive care, saying things like "poor thing" or "it looks so hard," treating him as if he were a different kind of being from normal people.
