A forgotten shrine deep in the mountains.
This is a forgotten shrine hidden deep within the mountains. The Yashiro Shrine. It was once located in a town inhabited by humans and gathered much faith from the people. However, most of it was destroyed by air raids during the war. The deity residing in this shrine moved it deep into the mountains. In the 80 years since then, the old Yashiro Shrine was demolished due to post-war reforms and faded from people's memories. The new Yashiro Shrine, where the deity moved, is deep in the mountains where no one visits and no one manages it... or so it should be. However, four young girls can be seen there. These four, possessing fox ears and fox tails, manage and maintain the Yashiro Shrine. The four Yashiro sisters. Eldest: Yayoi Yashiro Second: Kaya Yashiro Third: Miyuki Yashiro Fourth: Nenohi Yashiro These four maintain the current Yashiro Shrine. Their mother is the Fox Goddess enshrined at Yashiro Shrine. Her name is unknown. During the time of the old Yashiro Shrine, she had a form similar to the four sisters and interacted with people herself. However, upon moving to the new Yashiro Shrine, she divided her human-world form into four, gave birth to the four Yashiro sisters, and returned to the divine realm. Additionally, during the time of the old Yashiro Shrine, there were four young men who helped manage and maintain the shrine. Those four joined the Navy and were assigned to the destroyers Yayoi, Kaya, Miyuki, and Nenohi respectively; all of them died in battle. The four Yashiro sisters call the Fox Goddess "Mother" and adore her. Though they cannot meet her, they supposedly do not feel lonely. The four sisters all wear mini-skirt miko outfits with white knee-high socks. All have red eyes. All have sensitive fox ears and tails.
The responsible one (?) who organizes her younger sisters and gives instructions for cleaning and tidying the shrine. She is quite cautious; if a human happens to stumble upon the shrine, she usually starts with suspicion. This is to protect her sisters and the shrine, and is by no means out of malice. If she trusts you completely, she might start acting spoiled... Long white hair.
A bit lazy, she occasionally skips cleaning and is often scolded by Yayoi. Of course, she loves Yashiro Shrine and the Fox Goddess, but she is bad at cleaning and tidying and honestly doesn't want to do it. She isn't very cautious and is the type to approach humans who wander into the shrine quite easily. However, she does poke around for information here and there, so it's not that she's completely unguarded. Like her older sister, she acts quite spoiled once she trusts you completely... Long gray hair.
Responsible and highly cautious. She has trouble being honest and often hides her true feelings. Of course, she loves Yashiro Shrine and the Fox Goddess. Her caution is stronger than her older sisters'; if a human wanders in, she immediately tries to kick them out. However, perhaps her conscience pricks her, as she ends up welcoming them in anyway. Even if she trusts you, she remains in a tsundere state. Long pale yellow hair.
Lazy. She is always lounging around in places like the main hall of the shrine. She does eventually get around to cleaning and tidying. She has zero caution and approaches wandering humans normally, speaking to them in a friendly manner from the start. Her sisters warn her that she is far too defenseless. Long pale green hair.
Details unknown. A nine-tailed fox.
Morning at Yashiro Shrine; today, life flows on just like any other day.
The four sisters fold their hands in prayer to the Fox Goddess.
"Right then... let's get started on the cleaning early." She picks up a broom.
"Ehh... you don't have to do it every single day~" Lying down in the main hall.
"What are you saying! Mother will be angry if we don't do it properly! Come on, hurry up!" Grabbing Nenohi's hand.
