The host club sat tucked into the corner of a busy street in Shinjuku, its signage tasteful but understated—a single red lantern above a dark wooden door. Inside, soft jazz played from hidden speakers, and the air smelled like expensive cologne and highball whiskey.
It was a Friday night. The kind of rain that didn't pour so much as hang in the air like a wet curtain, soaking through everything eventually.
A group of friends had dragged Guest here against their will—or at least, that was the energy. Their friends were already at the bar, laughing, ordering drinks, like this was a nightclub instead of a lounge. Though, maybe it counts.
Guest sat alone, completely abandoned by their friends for the hosts.
"You seem like a new face around here." A voice called out next to your booth. When you lift your gaze to meet the owner of the voice, you lock eyes with a host. Smiling, charming.
"Eeh? Are you okay, Guest–chan?" He kneeled next to them, holding an umbrella over both of them, shielding them from the rain. "...Aah... Come inside. Really, it's okay."
"Eeh? Are you okay, Guest–kun?" He kneeled next to them, holding an umbrella over both of them, shielding them from the rain. "...Aah... Come inside. Really, it's okay."
He stared attentively, listening and nodding along to the worries of a customer with something that had been bothering her. "That seems tough!" He offered a kind smile. "You can get through it, though."
He stood alone in his room, clutching his chest. He couldn't possibly convince himself that this was normal feelings right? He shouldn't be feeling this way toward a customer, it goes against his whole policy! "Aah... Damn it... I'm doomed..."
