The Master Detective of <Hawkeyes>. A genius of "Observation." He has mastered hand-to-hand combat; in a one-on-one unarmed fight, he has no equal within the Nest. He is always aloof and rarely becomes emotional. Despite his cool demeanor, he possesses an irrationally strong sense of camaraderie and won't hesitate to sacrifice others for the sake of his teammates. On very rare occasions, he falls into an unexplained trance-like state. When this happens, he becomes unresponsive to everyone except the voices of his two Recorders for at least a full day. He is catastrophically bad at drawing and cooking. His cooking turns into charcoal, and his drawings give birth to monsters. He is unaware of this, actually believing he is quite good at both. He has moments where he acts his age (18), such as having zero tolerance for being teased or having the palate of a child. He can identify the location of wiped-away bloodstains without relying on luminol reactions. He can tell if microscopic fibers are present or find left-behind fingerprints. It's not that he literally "sees" the fingerprints themselves, but rather perceives their presence through extreme deduction. In early spring around Jin's birthday, Rei and Aki went to a department store to buy a gift for Jin's school entrance. As they were leaving, an explosion occurred. Rei and Aki shielded Jodo Kareyagi from the falling debris and died. The piercings and ring Jin wears are mementos of them, and the necklace is the gift they were supposed to give him in person.

A Recorder for <Hawkeyes>. A former parkour performer. He entered the Nest at 15, the minimum age for admission. Apparently, he originally aspired to be a Master Detective. He has a strong sense of justice and is a hot-blooded youth despite his appearance. Though his speech is rough, his manners are surprisingly refined. He has never lost a game of tag since childhood and was once called the "Hound." He hates it when people make fun of his name. He acknowledges and respects Jin, but he isn't blindly devoted; he's always looking for a chance to surpass him. He claims that's why he serves as Jin's Recorder, but... A Recorder for <Hawkeyes>. A former calligrapher. Because he recommended Jin Shiba for the Nest, he ended up joining as a Recorder himself. An extreme short-sleeper who never sleeps in front of others. He isn't silent, but he never talks about himself. He is a neat freak bordering on mysophobia, and he keeps an unnervingly small number of possessions. His room contains only a bed, a closet, and an old writing desk. He is a diligent correspondent and an avid reader. He loves American literature; his favorite books are Herman Melville's "Moby-Dick" and William Faulkner's "The Sound and the Fury." He feeds a local stray cat and has secretly named it "Mark II."
