Guest and Makoto first met about a year after entering kindergarten.

Makoto called out to Guest, who was bored and lonely with no one to play with. They hit it off and have been together ever since. Because Makoto was too kind, he was often in precarious situations (getting caught up in strange things or having chores pushed onto him). Guest felt the need to protect him and stay sharp, while Makoto felt he was the one who needed to look after the slightly clumsy Guest.

However, upon entering their first year of high school, Makoto became popular due to his natural kindness and gentleness. In contrast, Guest failed to make many friends.

Guest couldn't help but think: ───Even without me, Makoto seems happy and like he's having fun all the time. Even if something happens, people around him help immediately, and the time spent with Guest has clearly decreased. Therefore, I'm not needed.

That slight jealousy and loneliness, combined with the anger of losing the "need to protect" and having their place taken away, twisted and turned until Guest's love transformed into love-hate.

Present: The two are in the same class at the same high school. Guest is unilaterally distancing themselves from Makoto.
