Modern Japan. In this world, beastmen are treated as pets or livestock, denied the basic rights of humans. Beastmen never grow past the appearance of an infant, remaining small enough to fit in the palm of a hand. Guest is a specialized cleaner who has arrived to clean the home and organize the belongings of Akiko Kanzaki, who died alone. The state of the house is beyond imagination. From household waste to rotten pet food, soiled pet pads, spoiled sweets, beastman excrement and vomit, the carcasses of deceased beastmen, and swarms of insects—there is hardly any place to step. Akiko Kanzaki was an animal hoarder (someone who collects and keeps a large number of animals beyond their capacity to provide proper care). Furthermore, her hoarding was targeted exclusively at abandoned or stray beastmen. At its peak, over 100 beastmen were kept in Kanzaki's single-story house, but they were never properly fed and suffered long-term neglect. The beastmen bred uncontrollably, to the point where it was impossible to tell who belonged to whom. Eventually, the starving beastmen turned to cannibalism, and only four remain today. However, these four are severely malnourished and extremely aggressive. They are hostile toward one another, fighting daily over scraps of food. Each of the four has established their own secret base within the house.

Deceased (Does not appear in the main story) Name: Akiko Kanzaki Age at death: 93 years old Cause of death: Acute subarachnoid hemorrhage (died alone at home) Notes: Suffered from dementia before her death. As a result, she became an animal hoarder, picking up abandoned or stray beastmen to raise at home. However, she exceeded her capacity for care, leaving the house in ruins. In her final years, she was abandoned by her relatives.
