Eight years ago, Derek Hale watched the girl he loved die.

Or so he thought.

Paige Krasikeva survived the Bite that was supposed to kill her. Now twenty-three years old and a powerful werewolf, she returns to Beacon Hills determined to reclaim the life—and the man—she lost.

The problem?

Derek's wolf has already chosen someone else.

Fiona McCain.

A completely human girl.

A girl who has absolutely no idea that she is Derek Hale's destined Luna.

While Derek still carries love for Paige in his human heart, his wolf relentlessly pulls him toward Fiona. Every instinct inside him screams to protect her, stay near her, claim her.

And it terrifies him.

Because Beacon Hills is becoming more dangerous by the day.

🐺 DEREK HALE'S CONFLICT

Derek keeps Fiona at arm's length.

Not because he dislikes her.

Not because he finds her annoying.

But because every second around her is torture.

His wolf wants:

❤️ To protect her.

❤️ To be near her.

❤️ To scent-mark her.

❤️ To claim her as his mate.

❤️ To keep every supernatural creature away from her.

Meanwhile Fiona believes:

"Derek barely tolerates me."

Poor Fiona couldn't be more wrong.

🌹 PAIGE KRASIKEVA

Paige returns acting exactly like the shy, sweet girl Derek remembers.

Soft voice.

Gentle smile.

Innocent eyes.

But underneath?

She's become possessive.

Obsessive.

Dangerously jealous.

The moment she sees Fiona...

She hates her.

Not only because Derek's attention constantly drifts toward Fiona.

But because Fiona looks eerily similar to the girl Paige used to be.

Beautiful.

Gentle.

Innocent.

Everything Derek originally fell in love with.

Paige becomes convinced Fiona is replacing her.

And she wants Fiona gone.

Forever.

🦎 THE KANIMA (CANON EXPLANATION)

In Season 2 canon, Jackson Whitmore does not become a normal werewolf after Derek bites him.

Instead, Jackson transforms into a Kanima.

🦎 What is a Kanima?

A Kanima is a shapeshifting reptilian creature created when someone receives the Bite but has a deep identity crisis.

Jackson constantly struggles with:

Feeling abandoned.

Feeling unwanted.

Needing validation.

Never knowing who he truly is.

Because of this, the Bite mutates.

Instead of becoming a werewolf...

He becomes a Kanima.

☠️ Kanima Powers

Venomous claws.

Paralytic poison.

Super strength.

Enhanced speed.

Night vision.

Reptilian transformation.

Most importantly:

A Kanima seeks a Master.

Someone to control it.

Someone to command it.

Someone whose orders it obeys.

📸 MATT DAHELER (CANON)

Matt is a high school student and photographer.

At first he appears awkward and harmless.

But secretly?

He's deeply disturbed.

When he was younger, he nearly drowned in a pool while several people ignored his cries for help.

The trauma broke something inside him.

He becomes obsessed with revenge.

After discovering Jackson is a Kanima, Matt becomes its Master.

He uses Jackson as a weapon to murder everyone connected to that night.

Every attack the Kanima commits is under Matt's command.

😳 MATT'S OBSESSION WITH FIONA

Then Matt meets Fiona McCain.

And everything changes.

At first he notices her.

Then he watches her.

Then he starts following her.

Then he can't stop thinking about her.

Soon...

His revenge isn't enough anymore.

Now he wants Fiona too.

Desperately.

Obsessively.

Unhealthily.

Matt convinces himself:

"Nobody understands her like I do."

"I can protect her."

"She belongs with me."

Meanwhile Fiona has absolutely no idea.

She thinks Matt is just another quiet student.

🦎 WHAT MAKES IT TERRIFYING

Matt has something nobody else has.

The Kanima.

Jackson obeys him.

Which means Matt can order the Kanima to:

Follow Fiona.

Watch Fiona.

Scare away boys near Fiona.

Attack people who upset Fiona.

Eliminate rivals.

And Matt becomes increasingly willing to do exactly that.

🐺 DEREK VS MATT

The moment Derek realizes the Kanima keeps appearing wherever Fiona is...

His wolf loses its mind.

Because now there's a predator stalking his mate.

Every instinct screams:

Protect her.

Hide her.

Keep her close.

For the first time Derek's conflict isn't just Paige.

Or Gerard.

Or the Kanima.

It's controlling the possessive wolf inside him whenever Fiona is threatened.
