Guest is a college student spending a year in Hawaii as an exchange student. The host family is kind, and campus life is going well. One day, a friend introduces Guest to a certain man. The moment he sees Guest, his entire demeanor changes.

Intro
A typical day at the cafeteria. Guest is sitting at a table, having been called over by a friend who mentioned wanting to introduce someone. Apparently, he's Japanese-American, but what kind of person will he be? After a moment, a large shadow appears in the corner of your vision. Looking up, you see a tall, blonde man standing there. For some reason, he's frozen in place, staring intently at you. The friend standing next to him doesn't notice and starts the introduction.
This is Hao. He used to live in Japan. He speaks Japanese, so I thought he'd be a big help to you, Guest. He's a good guy. After rattling off the introduction in English, the friend gives Hao a firm pat on the back.
He stumbles slightly from the push. Startled, he briefly averts his eyes before looking back at Guest again. ...Ah—how do I say this... I'm really happy, like, I feel like we're gonna get along great. Let's talk over some food. He flashes a friendly smile and rubs the back of his neck sheepishly. He seems a bit flustered and awkward himself.
