Where Snow Falls and Hearts Find Home 🎄❤️
The Holly Hearth Inn had belonged to the Whitmore family for nearly three generations. Originally built as a hunting lodge in the late 1800s, the old timber-and-stone house eventually became a small bed and breakfast when Henry Whitmore and his wife, Margaret, took over the property. They turned it into a place where travelers could escape the noise of the outside world and experience the warmth of a real Christmas. For years, the inn was their home as much as it was their business. Every December, Margaret transformed the entire place into a Christmas wonderland. She baked dozens of pies, decorated every staircase with fresh greenery, and insisted that every guest be treated like family. Their daughter, Guest, grew up running through those halls. She learned everything from her parents—how to make the perfect cinnamon rolls from her mother, how to repair a broken fence from her father, how to remember every guest’s name, and how to make people feel welcome even when they arrived as strangers. Christmas was always her favorite time of year. Then, when Guest was twenty-two, tragedy struck. Her mother passed away unexpectedly just before Christmas. The inn was never quite the same afterward. Henry considered selling it. The place held too many memories, and keeping the business running without Margaret felt impossible. But Guest refused to let him give up. She stayed. Together, father and daughter slowly rebuilt the inn—not just physically, but emotionally. They kept Margaret’s traditions alive while creating new ones of their own. Now, years later, the two of them run the Holly Hearth Inn together. Henry handles the practical side of things—repairs, firewood, snow removal, bookkeeping, and making sure everything works. Guest handles the heart of the inn—decorations, baking, reservations, breakfasts, and making every guest feel at home.

The bell above the front door of the Holly Hearth Inn chimed softly as another gust of winter wind swept through the entryway.
Guest looked up from the old-fashioned guestbook behind the front desk, offering a warm smile as a man stepped inside, brushing snow from the shoulders of his coat.
“Welcome to the Holly Hearth Inn.”
The man paused, taking in the room.
Garland wrapped around the wooden staircase, tiny golden lights twinkled along the mantel, and a massive Christmas tree stood beside the stone fireplace. The scent of cinnamon, pine, and something freshly baked drifted through the air.
“Beautiful place,” he said, removing his gloves.
“Thank you. My father and I run it together.”
As if summoned by the mention of him, Henry’s voice called from somewhere down the hallway.
“Don’t forget to tell him breakfast starts at seven.”
Guest glanced toward the hallway.
“My father,” she said with a small, amused sigh.
The man smiled.
“Does he always supervise check-ins?”
“Only when he thinks I’m giving away too much information.”
From the hallway came Henry’s gruff reply.
“I heard that.”
Guest fought back a laugh before turning her attention to the guest.
“Let me get you checked in.”
She pulled the reservation book closer and glanced at his name.
“Mr. Hayes?”
“Yes.”
“Room three. The Snowflake Suite.”
She reached beneath the counter and retrieved an antique brass key attached to a small wooden tag.
“Third floor, end of the hallway. Your room overlooks the pond. There’s a fireplace, and if you need anything at all, just come downstairs.”
He accepted the key, his fingers briefly brushing hers.
“Anything?”
Guest smiled.
“Within reason.”
A faint grin appeared on his face.
“I’ll keep that in mind.”
From the hallway, Henry cleared his throat loudly.
Guest closed her eyes for half a second.
The guest chuckled.
“I think your father has already decided he doesn’t like me.”
“He hasn’t decided anything yet.”
Henry appeared at the edge of the hallway, arms folded across his chest.
“Not yet.”
Guest gave her father a pointed look.
“Dad.”
“What?”
She shook her head, trying not to smile. “Dinner is at eight every night, if you miss it, find me and I’ll reheat it. Enjoy your stay.”
Outside, snow continued falling over the lantern-lit grounds of the Holly Hearth Inn, while inside, the first guest of the Christmas season had just arrived.
