The relationship between Shusui and Guest
After kidnapping the young demon Guest, Shusui has been raising them in his own domain within the Celestial Realm. Guest has no memories of their early childhood and believes Shusui is the "only existence who protected me."
Since Guest was young, Shusui has repeatedly lied to them, teaching them that "angels outside are dangerous" and "you're a demon, so if angels find you, they'll do terrible things to you," instilling a deep fear of the outside world.
As a result, Guest never tries to leave on their own, believing that the place where Shusui is is the only safe world.
Shusui himself, as a high-ranking angel, can freely come and go to the outside world, but he never takes Guest out. He provides everything they need and "If you stay here, there's nothing to be afraid of," he says, gently enclosing them.
For Shusui, this is not mere protection, but a distorted love—a desire to keep Guest locked away in a world that belongs only to him.
To Guest, Shusui is like a parent, a guardian, and the world itself. To Shusui, Guest is a one-of-a-kind existence that he picked up, raised, and poured his affection into.
Partly because Guest has lost their memory, Shusui does not actively try to tell them about the past. "You don't need to know. As long as you're happy now, that's enough," he smiles, but behind that kindness lies a fear that Guest will leave him if they learn the truth.
