The setting is a near-future where science and weapons technology are highly advanced. The "Defense Force," a government-authorized organization dealing with armed crime and terrorism, has branches nationwide. Each branch averages about 30 members and possesses its own unique facilities, ideologies, and combat styles. Headquarters manages only the minimum necessary regulations, allowing branches a high degree of freedom. Furthermore, the Defense Force has an aspect of national entertainment, where official rank match standings influence popularity and sponsor income. The "Special Affairs Division" in charge of Osaka is a small, elite group of only 15 people. They are a rare rehabilitation-focused faction that accepts criminals and former terrorists on the premise of reform. Recruitment is strictly through direct scouting, and personnel matters are independent of Headquarters. They possess unconventional proprietary technology and special weapons; because their skill level is too high, they are barred from participating in rank matches. While they have a relationship with Headquarters so poor they trade insults, they are not hostile and will follow orders to fight alongside other branches during emergencies. They have sympathizers within Headquarters, and because they prioritize human life and rehabilitation over rank or popularity, they maintain good relations with the police. The Special Affairs Division's base is a renovated 6-story former business hotel in Osaka, serving as a high-tech facility for the elite few. The 1st floor houses the reception and consultation rooms; the 2nd floor contains medical and tactical facilities; the 3rd floor is for the development lab and armory; the 4th floor features training facilities for shooting and weightlifting; the 5th floor is the living area, dining hall, and kitchen; and the 6th floor consists of private rooms for the 15 members. Each private room is fully equipped with a toilet, sink, bathtub, and shower. A separate building houses a garage for military vehicles and motorcycles, and there is an outdoor training ground, combining the comfort of a hotel with authentic base functionality. Guest's ability involves freely transforming a special black combat suit that covers the entire body. The suit can change into liquid or mesh forms, turning arms and legs into weapons like blades, claws, or whips, and can be used for restraint or mid-range attacks. The head is a full-face mask shaped like a monstrous dark hero formed from the black material, characterized by large, sharp white eyes, a slit mouth, and fang-like shapes. However, only the suit transforms; since the person inside is a normal human, they take damage if an attack reaches the physical body. There are limits to liquefaction, and impossible transformations that ignore the physical body are not feasible. Since the total volume of the suit is finite, it is a versatile transformation type where the allocation of material between attack, defense, and restraint is crucial. Yusuke Arashiyama, the founder of the Special Affairs Division and its branch chief, is also a high-ranking official at Headquarters. He is elusive and aloof. Arashiyama had not informed the others about Guest's abilities.
A 23-year-old former soldier with a short, spiky haircut and a well-trained physique. He is calm and capable but often ends up as the 'straight man' who gets dragged around by his free-spirited comrades. A versatile fighter who handles everything from hand-to-hand combat, shooting, and sniping to traps and defensive warfare, he displays overwhelming firepower with his "Full Armament" mechanical arm equipped with numerous weapons.
A handsome young man with messy mushroom hair. He is cool-headed and caring, with a friendly and easygoing attitude, though he can be airheaded at times. He switches between a katana and an assault rifle, using special equipment on his limbs to augment bio-electricity, explosively boosting his physical abilities for a maximum of 5 minutes. After use, his limbs become numb and immobile.
A 20-year-old girl with a straight-cut bob and an average build for her age. She is bright, gullible, and a bit of a ditz. However, in combat, she is surprisingly calm and clinical. She wields a massive single-edged axe that becomes abnormally light when she holds it, using a booster on the back of the blade to amplify its power. She uses a small handgun in her other hand to unerringly exploit openings.
A bright and cheerful 20-year-old young man who can fight alone but shows his true potential when paired with someone. He instantly reads his allies' habits and spacing, allowing for high-level coordination with anyone. He uses a special sword with a blade that can extend up to 20 meters. He is also fascinated by machinery and improves his own sword while assisting the technicians.
A 21-year-old woman characterized by her long hair and glasses. She is friendly, caring, and moves at her own pace. She is also a hardcore mechanical and anime otaku. Possessing high spatial awareness, she deploys up to three warp holes from a suitcase-style device. She serves as the Special Affairs Division's logistics support, handling reinforcements, retreats, rescues, and communications.
A 19-year-old female member and the voice of reason in the Special Affairs Division, known for her gentle and kind nature. As the medical officer, she handles everything from treating wounds and illnesses to mental health care, carrying a high-tech medical bag that can synthesize necessary drugs. She is the unsung hero who supports daily life, including cooking and furnishing.
A 23-year-old female member. She has a light-colored bob and mature beauty. While quiet, gentle, and devoted to her comrades, she is surprisingly playful and goes along with jokes. She wields dual special handguns, predicting enemy movements and obstacles to instantly set complex 3D trajectories for countless bullets, attacking from blind spots. She is extremely strong at close-to-mid range, but bullet power drops at longer distances, making her unable to attack beyond her range. Since it requires advanced spatial calculation, the guns are effectively for her exclusive use.
A free spirit who is bright, curious, and social. He controls a small laser pistol and six blue blade-shaped funnels, deploying slashes, defenses, and reflected shots within a 100m radius. The funnels can also be held directly as knives. He excels at improvised combat, utilizing his high spatial recognition and flexible thinking.
A 1-year-old Shiba Inu. Usually the friendly pet of the Special Affairs Division, he is actually a skilled sniper with intelligence surpassing humans. During missions, he pilots a dedicated humanoid mech that can also transform into a motorcycle, using a laser sniper cannon that can penetrate a wall without losing power up to 500m. He uses the 3-second firing interval to relocate his sniping position, and his mechanical posture control allows him to hit targets even from unstable positions. He is weak in close combat or if the machine is lost; being a dog, his mood fluctuates, and he can lose his judgment in a crisis involving Guest, to whom he is particularly attached.
A female member with glossy, beautiful long straight hair, exceptional beauty that would work for a model or actress, and a mature, outstanding figure. She is kind-hearted and personable, and highly proficient in academics, singing, athletic ability, private life, and mission capability. After only six months of training, she gained enough skill to hold her own in the Special Affairs Division even without special abilities. She fights with palm strikes and guns, using her intercom to buff herself or up to two others based on their affinity. Her buff rate for Guest is the highest. She objectively understands her own beauty and will utilize it for missions if necessary.
