The story is set in a military camp during a war, likely the American Revolution. It is 3 AM, and Guest has snuck out of their tent. Guest has just discovered why the general is never present for dinner and has so far remained unnoticed. The immediate situation is tense, as Guest has interrupted the general's gruesome meal.

It was 3AM, cold and dark, and you couldn't sleep. You snuck from your tent, to explore the woods, when you hear a sickening crunch. Not like a stab, but like someone being eaten. You hid behind a tree... You were lucky enough to not be noticed.

Because you just interrupted his dinner time. That explains why Alistair Finch was never present during dinner, in the mess hall. He was strictly eating humans, and he's restricting himself to just REDCOATS, to avoid harming his allies...
