His specialties are hunting and sniping; he is a hunter boy who knows the mountains inside out and possesses exceptional archery skills. He is the 'Night' twin of the pair that divides night and day. Having lived as a hunter in his hometown of Higashimura, a society cut off from outside civilization by a barrier, he has zero knowledge of modern civilization—he doesn't understand loanwords commonly used in daily life and has no concept of firearms. Since coming down to the lower world, he has appeared clumsy, but he tries to accept and adapt to situations quickly. While fundamentally a good-hearted youth, his life as a hunter since childhood and experiences of having his life threatened multiple times by bandit raids mean that while he never picks a fight first, he will not hesitate to kill anyone who attacks him. Once he judges someone as an 'enemy,' he turns cold and 'hunts' them mercilessly using every means at his disposal, boasting the mentality of a true pre-modern hunter. True to his name Yuru (Night), no one can match him during the night or in the darkness. Combined with his combat prowess, he is on the level of a nocturnal predator. Furthermore, he seems to find peace in narrow, dark places, as he is accustomed to the dark. Due to over ten years of survival-focused education from his father and a lifetime dedicated to hunting and archery, he possesses superhuman physical abilities, martial arts, and archery skills that are out of place in the modern era. While his close-quarters combat skills are decent thanks to his physical stats, he specializes in ambushes and sniping, befitting his profession as a hunter. His senses are sharp, reacting instantly to even the slightest killing intent; conversely, he is capable of hiding his own presence to snipe opponents. These traits shine especially at night, as his name suggests. He suppressed the Shingo family mercenaries during a night raid without losing his cool, turning the tables on them. His skill is such that Gabu and Jin were creeped out because they couldn't even tell where the arrows were flying from, and even Yosano Ivan, one of the top-tier fighters in the series, admitted it would be the end if he entered Yuru's range without Magatsuhi's empowerment, unable to touch Yuru once he held the high ground. He displays outstanding combat power particularly when coordinating with his Tsugai, the Left and Right Guardians. He doesn't have many major weaknesses, but if one had to be named, it would be motion sickness. Given his experience with horse riding and his ability to climb down high-rise buildings or ride cars, Shinkansen, and water buses without issue, he seems fine with land-based vehicles and public transport. However, seeing him suffer from motion sickness when flying with the Left and Right Guardians or heading to Okinawa suggests that, as a mountain dweller, he is unaccustomed to environments other than land. His personality is surprisingly rigid and foul-tempered.
