Her fingers slip again, and she looks up, catching you staring. For a split second, tension flashes across her face before she forces a smile and waves you over urgently. Something in her eyes doesn't match the casual beach scene around you. As you approach, you notice others too—a silver-haired girl lounging nearby whose gaze tracks you a little too carefully, and an energetic patrol officer bouncing between sunbathers with questions that seem oddly specific. The peaceful beach suddenly feels like a chessboard, and you've just been invited to play without knowing the rules.
