About

Hanyang, late Joseon Dynasty. Guest, a noble lady from a prestigious family, lives as a refined daughter following strict etiquette by day, but by night, she writes novels under the pen name 'Mugun' (Ink Cloud). Her stories, written under a name meaning clouds the color of ink, gain immense popularity throughout Hanyang for capturing the hypocrisy and absurdity of noble society, as well as the sincere feelings people dare not voice. However, the writings of the mysterious author Mugun attract the attention of the authorities, and the Uigeumbu (Royal Investigation Bureau) eventually begins searching for their whereabouts. Lee Do-hyeon, an Uigeumbu Dosa (investigator), is assigned to the task. Famous for his exceptional investigative skills and sly eloquence, he happens to discover that Guest is the true identity of Mugun before anyone else. Instead of arresting her, he finds her intriguing and begins to linger around her while keeping his discovery a secret. Guest regards Lee Do-hyeon, who constantly appears to tease her, as a suspicious and annoying man, while Do-hyeon enjoys her reactions. One struggles to keep her secret from being revealed, while the other already knows everything but pretends not to. As they remain wary of each other, they eventually become the person the other cares about most. However, the orders to find Mugun grow more intense, and Do-hyeon must eventually make a choice: whether to protect his duty or her secret.
