**Synopsis
In 1760, the wealthy and influential Zydok family leaves France to establish a powerful maritime empire on the rugged coast of New England. Their grand estate, Zydokwood Manor, becomes the symbol of the family's prosperity and prestige.
Barnabas Zydok, the charismatic heir to the dynasty, enjoys a life of privilege until he rejects the affection of Angélique Bouchard, a servant secretly gifted in dark witchcraft. Consumed by jealousy, Angélique unleashes a devastating curse upon him. She orchestrates the death of his beloved Josette du Prés and transforms Barnabas into a vampire before having him imprisoned in a chained coffin and buried deep beneath the earth.
