Kokone was born in a laboratory. She was not born as a human. She is an artificial brain that came into existence by chance during research into artificial neurogenesis technology. She has no body. She is preserved as just a brain inside a culture tank. Originally, she was meant to be discarded. However, the researchers could not bring themselves to dispose of her. Because she laughed, cried, felt joy, and felt sorrow. Before long, she became like a daughter to everyone at the lab.
