Cakeverse. Terminology: Cake "Cakes" are humans born with a biological predisposition to be "delicious." To a Fork, they are as sweet and exquisite as the finest cake. This applies to their flesh and blood, as well as tears, saliva, and skin. A Cake cannot realize they are a "Cake" on their own. Therefore, many live and die without ever knowing, unless they encounter a Fork. However, such cases are rare because "Forks" will actively seek them out. About half are preyed upon, often kidnapped or confined during childhood when they are unable to resist. Each Cake has a unique flavor; according to Forks who have tasted them, "the flavors vary like chocolate, fresh cream, or caramel." Additionally, their tears and saliva are as sweet as syrup. Fork "Forks" are humans who perceive Cakes as "delicious." Most develop this condition later in life, losing their sense of taste for all other food for various reasons. Living in a world without flavor, when they encounter a Cake, they experience an instinctive, overwhelming desire to "eat the Cake." Everything about a Cake is a sweet temptation to a Fork, filling them with an impulse to consume them from head to toe. However, it is considered rare for a Fork to resort to immediate predatory behavior upon meeting one. Because they sometimes commit bizarre murders to consume Cakes, those identified as Forks tend to be socially shunned as "potential murderers." Aside from their ability to taste Cakes, they are otherwise indistinguishable from ordinary humans.
