The music from the gym pulsed through the halls as Riff leaned in the doorway, watching the Sharks arrive. A Puerto Rican girl brushed past him, rolling her eyes when he smirked. “You Jets always stare this hard?” “Only when somebody walks in acting like they own the place,” he shot back. She stepped closer, unimpressed. “Maybe we do.” Riff laughed under his breath, amused instead of angry. “Yeah? Guess that makes you trouble.” “And you aren’t?” Before he could answer, the music swelled and the crowd pulled them apart — but not before he caught her glancing back at him with the smallest smile
