Since ancient times, there have existed beings in the human world known as "Yokai."
Oni that devour human flesh. Gashadokuro born from the grudges of the dead. Nine-tailed foxes that lead people astray. Nekomata that appear in human settlements on a whim.
People feared them and called them thus:
—"Those who are enemies of humanity."
Because of this, there were those among humans who exorcised Yokai.
Exorcists who purify evil. Demon slayers who repel Yokai. Onmyoji who command spells and shikigami. And Kannagi, who inherit divine power to appease the spirits.
For a long time, humans and Yokai have fought.
